Who and what this policy covers
Gesture Synth is an independent web project operated at gesture-synth.com. In this policy, “Gesture Synth,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator of this website. This policy covers the website, browser instrument, analytics, advertising technologies when enabled, and messages sent to our support address.
Free to play, record and preview without an account or app. Optional microphone in Sing & Play. Single-recording video download or system sharing costs US$9.99. Optional US$19.90 and US$29.90 packs include the number of recording unlocks shown in your offer before payment. Google or email/password sign-in is required; there is no subscription. We use your email address and a sign-in session cookie for purchases. You can sign in with Google or create an email/password account without mandatory email verification. Check your email address carefully: password recovery requires a link sent to that inbox. Google sign-in supplies your Google account identifier and email; we do not receive your Google password. Google sign-in does not require a password. You can choose to link an existing email/password account with the same email after verifying its password and a code sent to that inbox. Linking lets both sign-in methods access your existing purchases, recordings and remaining unlocks. We retain the original purchase and unlock records; matching email addresses alone do not link accounts. Order, payment status and recording-unlock records connect your purchases and available unlocks to your account. If you request a refund review, we store your reason, explanation, review status and update history with the purchase so you and support can follow the same case. We send service emails to support about submissions and to your purchase account about review-status changes. We keep notification status and sending references to investigate delivery problems. Card details are entered on Stripe-hosted checkout and are not entered into this instrument.
02 / Camera
Your camera frames stay in your browser
Camera Mode asks the browser for camera permission only after you press Start Camera. Frames are processed in browser memory to estimate hand landmarks and control the synthesizer. Gesture Synth does not upload the live camera stream or extracted landmarks for hand tracking. A selected performance recording is uploaded separately only after your confirmation, as described below.
Pressing Stop releases the camera stream. Closing the tab or page also ends the session. Your browser and operating system control the permission and may let you revoke it at any time. Mouse Mode does not request camera access.
03 / Recordings
Performance clips remain local unless you act
Live camera analysis, the camera stream and hand landmarks stay on your device. An optional microphone is requested separately and mixed only into the recording, without speaker monitoring. Only after you confirm saving a selected recording for a single purchase or a pack unlock does that recording go to private storage, including your voice if you enabled the microphone. Buying a pack alone does not upload camera or microphone media.
The browser attempts to keep a local preview for recovery for up to 24 hours; this is a recovery window, not guaranteed physical deletion or a backup. Browser storage may be cleared. Uploaded unpaid recordings expire after 30 days and are removed by scheduled cleanup. Files tied to an unresolved payment are held until its status is resolved. Single-purchase recordings are available for 30 days from payment; pack-unlocked recordings are available for 30 days from unlocking, then removed through scheduled cleanup. Unused pack unlocks do not expire and are recorded separately from media files. Downloading again does not extend that period.
Clearing the preview in the instrument deletes the local recovery entry. You can also clear site data in browser settings. Uploaded recordings are private and require your signed-in purchase access; they are not a public gallery. The storage provider processes the selected recording on our behalf. We use your email address to send password-reset links, requested account-link verification codes and provide support; Stripe processes checkout and payment records under its own privacy practices. Transaction records may be retained separately where needed for payment, accounting, dispute or legal obligations, even after the media file is removed.
Downloading puts a copy on your device. System sharing sends that copy to the destination you choose; its privacy terms apply. Contact support@gesture-synth.com about access or deletion requests.
To help resolve download problems, we retain delivery records for up to 90 days, including account and recording references, request times, response status, file byte counts, interruptions, and any confirmation that your browser received the complete file. These records do not show whether you saved or played the file, and do not include the recording itself, passwords, card details, or IP addresses.
04 / Measurement
Analytics used to understand and improve the tool
We test different recording-pack offers. A first-party cookie remembers the offer assigned to your browser; after sign-in, we associate an offer with your account so it remains consistent across visits. We record which offer was actually shown and link it to purchase, refund and unlock records to compare the offers. This measurement does not contain your recording, camera frames or raw hand landmarks.
We use Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager, Pageview, and Microsoft Clarity to measure visits and product interactions. Depending on the service and your settings, measurement data may include your IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and browser information, referrer, visited page, visit timing, and bounded events such as choosing an input mode, playing a first note, or completing a local recording.
Our product events do not intentionally include your name, email address, camera frames, recordings, raw hand landmarks, or free-form text. Analytics providers process data under their own terms, retention settings, and privacy controls.
Microsoft Clarity creates heatmaps and session replays from page structure and interactions such as navigation, clicks, and scrolling; it does not make a screen-video recording. We keep Clarity cookies off, use Strict masking, and explicitly mask the entire performance stage. Camera and canvas imagery, synthesized audio, raw hand landmarks, and locally recorded clip media are not intentionally sent to Clarity.
05 / Advertising
Google and third-party advertising technologies
If advertising services such as Google AdSense are enabled on this site, Google and other third-party vendors may place or read cookies on your browser, use web beacons, or collect IP addresses and other identifiers to serve, measure, limit, and personalize ads where permitted. Google may use an advertising cookie to serve ads based on a visit to this site and other sites.
Where required, a consent message will let you manage advertising choices before personalized advertising is used. Consent choices may be stored so the site can remember them. We do not pass names, email addresses, camera data, recordings, or other intentionally collected personally identifying fields to Google in ad requests.

Your choices
- Use Mouse Mode instead of Camera Mode, or deny/revoke camera permission in your browser.
- Block or delete cookies and site data through browser settings. Some measurement or preference features may then work differently.
- Manage Google ad personalization in Google Ads Settings.
- Review industry opt-out information at AboutAds or Your Online Choices.
- Use the consent message shown on the site where applicable to change advertising choices.
07 / Support messages
Information you choose to send
If you email us, we receive the address, message, and attachments you choose to provide. We use that information to respond, investigate a report, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes.
Do not send passwords, government identifiers, financial information, or sensitive recordings. You may ask us to review or delete a support message, subject to security and legal retention needs.
08 / General
Security, children, links, and changes
We use HTTPS and limit the instrument’s browser permissions, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Gesture Synth is a general-audience music tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request personal information from children.
Links or share destinations operated by others are governed by their own privacy practices. We may update this policy when the product, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above shows the latest material update.
